The ECHL Department of Players Safety has announced that they’ve suspended Maine Mariners defenseman Dalton Gally for one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions at the 19:48 mark of the third period during Sunday’s game vs Worcester Railers. Gally would cross-check Railer’s forward Cole Crowder and be assessed a major for cross-checking and a game misconduct. This is the second time in two weeks that Gally has been assessed a game misconduct as he was tossed for a spearing penalty with 13 seconds left during Maine’s October 18th game vs Wheeling Nailers and was only fined by the league for that hit. The McKinney, Texas native will miss Friday Night’s game vs Reading Royals.
Gally, 26, hasn’t been known for racking up the penalty minutes, as he had just 76 penalty minutes in his first 81 games in the league, but has 30 penalty minutes in just three games so far this season. The 26-year-old defenseman has 11 assists in 84 career games in the ECHL as he’s spent time with the Florida Everblades, Kansas City Mavericks, and Allen Americans before joining the Mariners. Prior to going pro, he spent three years in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers and Kelowna Rockets, where he put up three goals and 28 assists for 31 points, along with 170 minutes in penalties in 194 career games. He would then play two years with McGill University, where he put up five assists in 18 games before going pro.
