The Manitoba Moose announced on Tuesday, April 30 that defenseman Dawson Barteaux was reassigned to the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads.
The Foxwarren, Manitoba product has split time between the AHL and ECHL in his 2023-24 campaign. The 24-year-old defenseman posted 19 points (5G, 14A) in 45 games with the Moose this season. He primarily found himself paired with Kyle Capobianco, both Barteaux and Capobianco anchored the Moose’s blueline and provided stability for the team. Barteaux has recorded 24 career points (7G, 17A) in 102 AHL games split between the Manitoba Moose and the Texas Stars.
Down in the ECHL, Barteaux has posted 45 points (5G, 40A) across. 88 career ECHL games. Barteaux has only played for the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL and will join them as they look to make a deep run in the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Idaho is currently in the second round where they will face the Kansas City Maverick as they inch closer to a Kelly Cup.
Barteaux was originally selected in the sixth round (168th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Barteaux has yet to make his NHL debut with any team.
