Forward Dillon Hamaliuk is heading overseas to Slovakia to play for HC Nove Zamky after spending his first three years pro in North America. The former second-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2019 NHL Draft began his pro career by spending his first two years with the organization. Hamaliuk would spend the 2021-22 season with the San Jose Barracuda, putting up three goals and nine assists in 44 games with the club; the following season, Hamaliuk would get off to a hot start as he put up four goals and three assists for seven points in six games with the Wichita Thunder before suffering a hip injury that would abruptly end his season as well as his time with the Sharks organization as he would be part of the Erik Karlsson trade. In 36 games last year with the Wheeling Nailers, the Alberta native put up 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points and would be the Nailer’s representative at the ECHL All-Star Classic in Savannah. He would add two goals and an assist for three points in nine Kelly Cup Playoff Games. The 23-year-old forward would also spend eight games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, putting up one assist.
Prior to going pro, Hamaliuk spent five seasons in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kelowna Rockets, putting up 48 goals and 62 assists for 110 points in 192 games; he would win a WHL Championship in 2017 with the Thunderbirds. Hamaliuk is the third Nailer to head overseas this Summer, joining Justin Addamo and Davis Bunz.
