The Utah Grizzlies confirmed that forward Dylan Fitze will return for the 2025–26 season, marking his fifth year with the club. Fitze, who arrived in a 2022 trade from the Orlando Solar Bears, has since carved out a key role as one of the team’s most dependable and consistent players.

A Familiar Force

Since arriving in Utah following a late-season trade from Orlando in 2022, Fitze has been a regular in the Grizzlies’ lineup. Over 192 regular-season games with the team, he’s totaled 51 goals and 53 assists. He’s also added nine goals and three assists in 24 postseason contests. Across his ECHL career, which includes stops in Orlando and Kansas City, Fitze has appeared in 323 games and recorded 155 points.

Last season, he played in 56 games for Utah, finishing with 10 goals and eight assists. His production dipped slightly from the previous year, when he posted 41 points in 55 games. However, his leadership has remained an asset for the Grizzlies, as he also served as an alternate captain during the 2024–25 season.

Fitze now ranks seventh in both goals and games played in the team’s ECHL era and sits ninth all-time in total points. With his return, he becomes just the fourth player in Grizzlies history to skate in five separate seasons with the club (Utah Grizzlies, 2025).

Stability Amid Change

Fitze’s return is a welcome continuity during an offseason filled with unknowns. Earlier this month, the organization confirmed it is actively discussing a potential sale. While no official decisions have been made, relocation after the upcoming season seems likely. However, any team sale or relocation would require ECHL approval.

As questions about the team’s future continue to swirl, Fitze gives the team something solid to build around. He’s a known quantity—reliable on the ice, respected in the room, and well-liked by fans. In a summer of speculation, bringing back a player like Fitze is a reminder that some things, at least for now, are staying the same.
