The Utica Comets have announced that they’ve recalled forward Dylan Wendt from the Adirondack Thunder. Wendt, 24, has played in six games this season, recording two assists, with his last AHL game coming on January 20th vs Syracuse Crunch. He also spent five games with the Comets last season, where he had a goal and an assist. In 38 games with Adirondack, he has seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 38 games. The call-up to the Comets came right after Wendt was scratched for all three games this weekend against the Trois-Rivieres Lions with an apparent injury. Adirondack is currently on the road for the next week and a half. Utica will play four games before the Thunder return home, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Wendt find himself in the Comets lineup for a game or two to keep his legs under him.
Prior to going pro, the Grand Haven, Michigan native spent four seasons in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers and Muskegon Lumberjacks, where he put up 28 goals and 69 assists for 97 points in 155 USHL games. During his two seasons in Muskegon, he wore the “C” for the Lumberjacks. Wendt would then spend the next three seasons at Western Michigan University, putting up 33 goals and 36 assists for 69 points in 111 NCAA games. He would be nominated for the Hobey Baker Award in 2024 after putting up 23 goals and 21 assists for 44 points, doubling his total from the 2022-23 season.
