ECHL Eastern Conference Finals – Game 4 Recap: Florida Everblades vs Trois-Rivieres Lions

The Florida Everblades and Trois-Rivieres Lions met for a pivotal Game 4 on Friday Night. The road team had won the first three games of the series. For the first time in the series, it would be the Everblades who got on the board first as Kyle Neuber beat Luke Cavallin for his second goal of the series. The 36-year-old forward had just one goal in 37 games during the regular season. The Florida Everblades, after having a goal called off, doubled their lead on the PP as a puck went off the skate of a Lions skater and onto the stick of Kyle Betts, who put home his fifth of the playoffs. For Betts, he has goals in his last two games. Florida outshot the Lions 8-7 in the opening 20 minutes and took a 2-0 lead to the locker room.

In the second, Florida found the back again as Logan Lambdin fed Isaac Nurse in front for his second of the Playoffs. Despite giving up three goals on 17 shots through the first two periods, that would end Luke Cavallin’s night as Hunter Jones came in for the third period. Florida would get an early PP in the third, and Jesse Lansdell fed Craig Needham for his first of the Playoffs. For Jones, that would be the first goal he’d let up in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. He shutout the Norfolk Admirals in Game 1 of the Division Finals. The physicality hit a boiling point before the buzzer sounded in the third. Sean Allen, Israel Mianscum, and Isaac Dufort would all be handed 10-minute misconducts in the final minute. We also saw our first fight of the series as Kyle Neuber and Morgan Adams-Moisan dropped the gloves.

Cam Johnson stopped all 30 shots he saw for his second shutout of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. It’s his 13th career Kelly Cup Playoff shutout. Hunter Jones stopped five of the six shots he faced in the third period. Logan Lambdin would lead the Everblades with two assists on the night. Trois-Rivieres and Florida will faceoff tomorrow afternoon before the series shifts back to Florida for Game 6 on Tuesday Night.
