The Adirondack Thunder, after a Game 5 win in Florida, were looking to force a Game 7 as they were back at home in front of their home fans. During the Kelly Cup Playoffs, this first goal was crucial as neither team had lost a game when scoring first. The Florida Everblades got on the board at the 8:58 mark as Logan Lambdin fed Josh Ho-Sang in front for his first goal of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. It was an evenly played opening frame, as after 20, the Everblades would be up 1-0. In the second, both teams would push to get the game’s second goal, and it would come at the 13:50 mark of the middle frame as Sean Josling fed Bobo Carpenter in front on the PP to put the Blades in the driver’s seat. The Thunder needed something to go their way down two late in the second, and they would get it just two seconds into their fourth power-play of the game as Tristan Ashbrook won a faceoff and threw it back to Filip Engaras for his second goal in as many games as it would be a one-goal game heading into the third period.
In the third, Oliver Chau would get a breakaway at the 3:53 mark and beat Jeremy Brodeur to regain the Everblades two-goal lead. Joe Pendenza seemed to have put the nail in the coffin for the Thunder, as he would get a short-handed breakaway to put the Everblades up three with less than 15 minutes to go. Adirondack, with their backs against the wall, would claw their way back into the game with a goal by Filip Engaras at the 9:19 mark, and then Timur Ibragimov would get his first of the Kelly Cup Playoffs as the Thunder, along with the Cool Insuring Arena would once again have life. The Thunder would make a big push at the end but would come up short, falling 4-3 in the game and dropping the series 4-2 to end their historic season.
“It feels like the whole season, I’m just sitting on the bench thinking here they go again, somehow they are figuring this out, some teams just have that because they care about each other, they love each other, that’s why good things happen”
