The ECHL Department of Player Safety announced Monday that Florida Everblades forward Jesse Lansdell has been fined an undisclosed amount and suspended as a result of his actions in Game 5 against the Orlando Solar Bears on May 10.
Officials issued Lansdell a major penalty and game misconduct for slashing at 9:51 of the first period during Florida’s 3-1 win over the Orlando Solar Bears. The slash occurred away from the puck and led to a seven-minute power play for Orlando. The Everblades successfully killed off the entire sequence, preventing the Solar Bears from extending their 1-0 lead.
After reviewing the incident, the league issued the suspension under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline. The fine amount remains undisclosed, in line with standard league policy.
Impact on the Eastern Conference Final
Lansdell will serve his suspension during the Eastern Conference Final, where Florida will face either the Trois-Rivières Lions or Norfolk Admirals.. The Lions lead that series 3–2, with Game Six set for Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00 PM EDT in Trois-Rivières and a potential Game Seven scheduled for Wednesday night.
Losing Lansdell affects Florida’s forward depth and penalty kill rotation heading into their next series. He had played a regular energy-line role throughout the postseason.
Despite the suspension, Florida enters the next round with strong momentum after eliminating Orlando in five games. The team will retain home-ice advantage in the Conference Final, regardless of their opponent.
According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the PHPA, all player fines fund the ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund, which supports players in financial need.
