The Florida Everblades have announced that they have signed defenseman Sean Allen to a contract for the 2024-25 season. Allen, who is known for his physical play, has spent six seasons in the ECHL with the Wichita Thunder and Cincinnati Cyclones, where he’s put up five goals and 26 assists for 31 points, along with 665 penalty minutes in 238 career ECHL games and was named to the All-Star Team in 2020. He has one assist along with 55 penalty minutes in 18 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games. The 26-year-old defenseman began the 2023-24 campaign overseas with the Dundee Stars, playing in 27 games recording four assists and adding 114 PIM; those 114 PIMs would lead the EIHL. Allen would return to the Cyclones in February and would play in 21 games with Cincinnati, putting up two assists along with 88 minutes in penalties. For the Everblades, this adds another physical presence on the blue line after they signed Connor Doherty earlier this off-season; I would expect Allen to be a sixth or seventh defenseman for Florida heading into next season.
Prior to going pro, The 6’3, 209lb defenseman spent five seasons in the OHL with the Kitchener Rangers, Oshawa Generals, and Windsor Spitfire, where he put up two goals and 20 assists for 22 points, along with 381 minutes in penalties in 205 games. He would be a part of the 2014 Kitchener Rangers team that won the OHL Gold Cup; Allen would put up four assists and rack up 20 penalty minutes in five games during the OHL Cup.
