The ECHL Department of Players Safety has announced that they’ve suspended Florida Everblades forward Colin Theisen one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for his actions at the 15:43 mark of the second period in Friday’s game vs Jacksonville Icemen. Theisen, while battling for the puck, would high-stick Jacksonville Icemen forward Chase Lang with the butt-end of his stick and would be assessed a double minor for high-sticking on the play. He will miss today’s teddy bear toss game vs Jacksonville Icemen. In 20 games this season, Theisen has eight goals and six assists for 14 points, along with ten penalty minutes; he is second on the Everblades in goal behind Carson Gicewicz and Oliver Chau.
Theisen, 27, is in his fourth year as a pro, having played in the AHL and ECHL. In 80 games with the Tuscon Roadrunners, he’s scored 19 goals and 26 assists for 45 points. He has one goal in two career Calder Cup Playoff Games. The Monroe, Michigan native has bounced around the ECHL, making stops with the Atlanta Gladiators, Toledo Walleye, and Florida Everblades, where he’s put up 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points in 49 games. Prior to going pro, he spent five years at the NCAA level, including four years at Notre Dame, where he would win two B1G Championships with the fighting Irish; before spending his final year at Arizona State as Captain of the Sun Devils, he would put up 52 goals and 63 assists for 115 points in 179 games at the NCAA level.
