The Florida Everblades have named Oliver Chau the 21st captain in Franchise history. Chau replaces Joe Pendenza, who wore the “C” last season but is not playing professional hockey this season. Riese Zmolek, Logan Lambdin, and Carson Gicewicz will all wear an “A”.

Chau Named Captain

The Oakville, Ontario native is in his third season with the Everblades as he’s picked up 50 goals and 65 assists for 115 points in 136 regular season games. He’s added 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points in 42 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games and was named the Kelly Cup MVP last season.

“I’m honored to be named captain of the Florida Everblades,” said Chau. “It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly – I feel grateful to be chosen by my teammates to continue the standard of excellence I witnessed Joe [Pendenza], Ben [Masella] and John [McCarron] uphold.”

This doesn’t come as much of a shock as Chau has been an essential member of the Everblades over the course of his three years with the team. This isn’t the first time he’s been in a leadership role as he wore an “A” last season with the Everblades.

The Alternates

Carson Gicewicz- The 27-year-old forward is in his second season in the ECHL after putting up six goals and 21 assists for 27 points in 43 games with the Atlanta Gladiators. Logan Lambdin- For the second straight season, the 29-year-old forward will wear an “A” on his chest. Lambdin is in his fourth season in the ECHL as he’s spent his first two years with the Kalamazoo Wings before heading to Florida, where he’s now in his third season. In 146 ECHL games, he’s put up nine goals and 36 assists for 45 points. The Rochester, Minnesota native has three goals and three assists for six points in 23 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games.
