ECHL: Florida Everblades Re-Sign Star Forward Oliver Chau

The Florida Everblades have re-signed forward Oliver Chau ahead of the 2025–26 season, reinforcing their core with one of the most consistent and clutch performers in the ECHL. Chau has become a cornerstone of Florida’s recent success, helping lead the club to back-to-back Kelly Cup championships and deep playoff runs in all three seasons with the team (Florida Everblades, 2025).

Chau, 27, is coming off another productive year in Florida, where he tallied 48 points (23G, 25A) in 58 regular season games and added nine more in 15 playoff contests. A two-time Kelly Cup Champion and the 2023 Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP, Chau has become a staple in the Everblades lineup and a fan favorite in Estero.

Dominant Playoff Resume

A native of Oakville, Ontario, Chau has carved out a reputation as a postseason threat. Since arriving in Estero, he’s posted 49 points in 57 playoff games, including a 23-point effort in the 2023 playoffs, when he earned Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP honors. His hockey IQ, ability to finish in tight spaces, and calm under pressure make him a nightmare for opposing defenses in high-stakes moments (Florida Everblades, 2025).

Regular Season Reliability

Last season, Chau appeared in 58 regular-season games, notching 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points, plus a +16 rating. He added four goals and five assists in 15 playoff games, bringing his totals in an Everblades jersey to 145 regular-season points over 170 games. His offensive production has been consistently strong, and he’s just as impactful away from the puck, relentless on the forecheck, reliable on the backcheck, and deadly in transition.

NCAA Pedigree and AHL Experience

Before turning pro, Chau played four seasons at UMass, winning the NCAA National Championship in 2021 and a Hockey East title, before finishing his collegiate career at Quinnipiac. He also spent time in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners and Charlotte Checkers, gaining valuable high-level experience that has translated well to the pro game.

More Than Just Stats

Though not the biggest player at 5’9″, Chau plays a big game. He excels at reading plays, manipulating defenders quickly, and finding open ice to create scoring chances. His vision and timing elevate his linemates, and he’s become one of Florida’s most trusted players in key situations—whether it’s killing a penalty or setting up the game-winner.

Chau’s veteran presence and championship pedigree will be vital as Florida looks to rebound after falling short in the 2025 postseason.

Looking Ahead

The Everblades open their 2025–26 campaign on the road against the Orlando Solar Bears on Friday, October 17th, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM EDT.

Chau will undoubtedly be one of the first names on the lineup card—and one of the most exciting to watch.
