The Florida Everblades have announced that they have signed center Carson Gicewicz to an ECHL contract for the 2024-25 season. Gicewicz, who prior to the 2023-24 season hadn’t played in any ECHL games, spent 43 games with the Atlanta Gladiators, putting up six goals and 21 assists for 27 points; he also added one goal and three assists for four points in nine games at the AHL Level with the Milwaukee Admirals. Prior to joining the Nashville Predators organization, he spent 114 games with the Rockford Ice Hogs and Rochester Americans, putting up nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points, all coming with the Ice Hogs. The Orchard Park native played in five Calder Cup Playoff Games in 2022, putting up one goal and one assist.
Prior to going pro, the 27-year-old forward spent four years at St. Lawrence University and a year at UMass, putting up 38 goals and 40 assists for 78 points in 129 games. Gicewicz would win a National Championship with UMass in 2021. This is a solid move for the Everblades, who have brought in a lot of new faces this season as Gicewicz is the fifth new face signed to a contract with the Everblades for next season. Heading into next season, I would expect Gicewicz to be a guy who could play in the middle six for the Everblades and also could see a call-up to the team’s newest AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, as the team recently changed NHL/Affiliates, as they are now the ECHL Affiliate of the St. Louis Blues.
