The Florida Everblades changed their goaltending and defense on Monday ahead of their game against the Orlando Solar Bears.
Goaltender Evan Cormier was reassigned to the Everblades on Monday after backing up Florida Panther goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky for one game. Cormier was back on the bench, backing up Cam Johnson tonight in Orlando. With Cormier’s return, EBUG Nick Vilardo was released. Vilardo was on the bench for the Everblades during their victory against the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday.
Defenseman Dustyn McFaul, 23, signed his first professional contract with the Everblades on Monday. McFaul was drafted by the Boston Bruins in round six of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He played the previous five seasons for the Clarkson University Golden Knights, scoring six goals and 22 assists in 149 games. The Everblades placed McFaul on reserve.
Defenseman Riese Zmolek was placed on injured reserve effective March 16. Zmolek has played in 47 of 59 games for the Everblades, scoring four goals and nine assists.
The Everblades are playing the Orlando Solar Bears tonight at the Kia Center. They return home Wednesday to host the Savannah Ghost Pirates for a three-game series. Game one is on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena.
