In their latest off-season signing, the Fort Wayne Komets have added four players to their roster for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. The list includes a returning player, an All-Star from a year ago, as well as two additional players.
First off is a returning player from last year: Cameron Supryka, who is entering his third year in the ECHL, second with the Komets. Last year, Supryka played 50 games while racking up two goals and eight assists for 10 points. He also had 14 penalty minutes with a -1 rating. Before turning pro, the 22-year-old played a lot of his time in the OHL with four different teams from 2017-2022, with the exception of the 2020-21 season. His best season came in the 2019-2020 season as he played 53 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, scoring three goals and adding 18 assists.
Prior to being a member of the Komets, the Belleville, ON native played with the Tulsa Oilers in the 2022-2023 season, where he scored 24 points (5G,19A) in 59 games played, with a -19 rating. It will be interesting to see what kind of physical presence Supryka will bring to his second year in Fort Wayne.
Next up on the list is ECHL All-Star defenseman Kyle Mayhew. Mayhew, who spent last season with the Utah Grizzlies. In 71 games played last year, Mayhew scored 15 goals, adding 42 assists for 57 points. When Mayhew was introduced in the late stages of the 22-23 season, he instantly became a fan favorite in Utah. He scored a goal and two assists in five games while adding two goals and an assist in six playoff games that year.
Prior to turning pro, the California defenseman played five years of college hockey at the University of Denver from 2018-2023, where he played 153 games, scoring just six goals, adding 29 assists. Mayhew will be bringing his amazing physical presence and his offensive threat as well. This is a good add, as Mayhew had 36 penalty minutes while adding four power-play goals.
Dustyn McFaul is another guy coming over from a different squad, as he was acquired from the Florida Everblades as part of future considerations when Matt Wedman went to Florida. McFaul played just three games for the Florida Everblades after finishing up his college hockey at Clarkson University. In his college days, the 23-year-old played 149 games from 2019-2024, scoring six goals and 22 assists. Wedman went on to help the Florida Everblades win the Kelly Cup last year.
Last up is Tristan Trudel, who has been signed to a tryout and comes over from the Peoria Rivermen in the SPHL, where he scored 13 goals, adding just one assist in 36 games played. Prior to being with the Rivermen, Trudel played in the NA3HL with the Peoria Mustangs. During his time with the Mustangs, Trudel scored 144 points (81G,63A) in 143 games played. If he agrees to a standard player contract after the tryout, he will add some nice offense to the lineup while bringing his physicality, as he racked up 667 penalty minutes with the Mustangs and 89 last season with the Rivermen.
