Ethan Strang is set to go abroad as he joins the Guilford Flames for the 2024-25 season. This is the first time playing overseas for the 23-year-old native of Cochrane, Alberta. He played in the AJHL with the Grand Prairie Storm from 2018 to 2022, with his most impressive season was his final one. During that season, Strang scored 37 goals and accumulated 58 points in 55 games. This performance capped off his 177-game tenure with a total of 110 points, stemming from 63 goals and 47 assists.
In the 2023-2024 season, Ethan Strang participated in both the CWUAA league for Grant MacEwan University and then later for the ECHL as part of the South Carolina Stingrays. While at Grant MacEwan, he accumulated 27 points from 12 goals and 15 assists in 28 games. Upon joining the Stingrays, Strang played 13 games, scoring three goals and providing three assists, resulting in a total of six points. On March 29, 2024, the forward took the third star honors after the Stingrays beat the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in Overtime, 3-2.
In the Elite League, the Guilford Flames have achieved success with four League championships, five Premier Cups, and two Playoff titles under their belt. Adding to their achievements, the Flames also claimed the Patton Conference title during the 2018-2019 season. Strang is the first player from South Carolina to go overseas.
Looking ahead, Strang is set to make his debut with the Flames as they open their season against the Fife Flyers on September 29, 2024.
