GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Greenville Swamp Rabbits will host the Norfolk Admirals this evening at 6:05 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, celebrating the 2025 New Year with indoor fireworks and specialty “Hopville” sweaters.

Last year’s New Year’s Eve game at the “Well” saw a large crowd of over 6,000 attendees, who enjoyed thrilling indoor fireworks and glow-in-the-dark LA Kings-themed sweaters. The Swamp Rabbits delivered a memorable performance, defeating the Florida Everblades 5-4.

This year promises new excitement with different sweaters and a fresh matchup.

Here’s how to watch and what to expect for tonight.

Team Statistics

As of December 30, the Admirals are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference and third in the North Division standings with 39 points from an 18-8-3-0 record. The club beat the Atlanta Gladiators 6-3 at Gas South Arena last Sunday, so expect some heavy scoring action from them.

The Swamp Rabbits have struggled this past week, losing four consecutive games. They are currently seventh in the South Division and eleventh in the Eastern Conference with a 12-12-2-1 record for 27 points.

Top Point Makers

Brady Fleurent #94 (NOR): 36 points from 10 goals and 26 assists

Darick Louis-Jean #2 (NOR): 17 points from two goals and 15 assists

Ben Zolty #44 (NOR): 16 points from two goals and 14 assists

Bryce Brodzinski #45 (GVL): 22 points from 10 goals and 12 assists in 27 games

Tate Singleton #9 (GVL): 18 points from seven goals and 11 assists in 26 games

Parker Berge #39 (GVL): 19 points from five goals and 14 assists in 26 games

Goaltending

Domenic DiVincentiis has won ten of his last 12 starts for the Admirals, posting a 2.47 goals-against average (GAA) and a .947 save percentage (SV%). During Sunday’s matchup against Atlanta, he stopped 34 of 37 shots.

Dryden McKay has recently taken on the mantle as starting goaltender after Jacob Ingham was sent to long-term injured reserve (LTIR). In his last four games, he has lost all of them, posting a 3.21 GAA and a .906 SV%. He has won just eight of his 21 games goaltended.

Keys To The Game

Avoid Turnovers: The Rabbits must work on their defensive presence and avoid turnovers. The Admirals have strong scoring depth, and the Rabbits cannot afford to give up scoring opportunities.

Stick to Scoring Simplicity: The Swamp Rabbits need to shoot more and pass less. In their last two home games against the Jacksonville Icemen, the team passed excessively and failed to create scoring opportunities for their power forwards, such as Brodzinski. Their passing also needs improvement, as many passes are either too weak or too high and get intercepted.

Keep Away the Rebounds: Both teams must position themselves well and backcheck to prevent potential rebounds. McKay struggles with rebounds, and the Admirals can easily exploit this if given the chance.

Don’t Waste the Power Plays: With a 17% power-play success rate, the Swamp Rabbits have struggled on the power play. Brodzinski, who mans the top line as a right wing/center, should change his position and shooting area. His unique shot can enhance the team’s power-play scoring. He has previously scored from the left-wing point while playing on the left wing. Changing the player positioning on the power-play units might yield better results, especially against a team like Norfolk.

Grissom’s Return To Greenville

Defender Lordanthony Grissom is making a return to Greenville, but this time in a different team’s sweater. Grissom, who played two seasons for the Swamp Rabbits as a formidable defenseman, was released midseason in 2023-24 due to an overcrowded roster and an underwhelming season record.

Despite his departure, Grissom remained a fan favorite in Greenville and is likely to receive a warm welcome from the crowd. So far, he has appeared in 15 games for the Admirals, contributing one assist.

Tonight, the Swamp Rabbits and Admirals will clash at 6:05 p.m. at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, promising an exciting New Year’s Eve celebration.
