The Adirondack Thunder made their first-ever trip to Allen on Friday Night to begin a three-game series against the Allen Americans as they wrapped up their final three non-divisional games of the season. Adirondack would come out with a very solid first period, putting 17 shots on Marco Costantini as T.J. Friedmann got the Thunder on the board off a nice pass from recently signed Alex Young, who picked up his first career point with an assist. In the second, it would be Young again who made an impact for the Thunder as he finished off a two-on-one with Andre Ghantous to pick up his first pro goal as the Thunder were playing some solid hockey through the opening 40 minutes in their first game out west and had hopes of picking up their first road win outside of the North Division after dropping all three games in Florida in February.
In the third, the Thunder continued their strong play. At the 7:28 mark of the period, Mike Van Unen and Ryan Gagnon dropped the gloves. Van Unen got an extra two for kneeing, but the Thunder were able to kill off the penalty to protect their two-goal lead. Allen was finally able to get on the board at the 16:48 mark as Easton Brodzinski threw a puck at the net that was deflected in by Grant Herbert for his 10th of the season. Alex Young would take a delay of game penalty late in the third as the Americans would pull Costantini for the extra attacker which paid off as Kris Myllari fed Blake Murray for a one-timer for his 19th of the season to send the game to OT. In the OT period, both teams would have their chances as Isaac Poulter stood on his head stopping eight shots in the extra frame, and the game would head to a shootout as Hank Crone, in his first game back from injury, would score in the second round as the Americans would take the extra point.
