RECAP

Wade Murphy scored on a sweet feed from Kudla, Murphy’s 22nd goal of the season over Constantini at 16:18. Easton Brodzinski knotted things up exactly one minute after the Idaho tally. Brodzinski evened things up on his redirect on a Gagnon feed from the point at 17:18. About 20 seconds later; everyone grabbed a dancing partner in front of Thompson’s cage, a sum of 5 penalties resulting in an Idaho man-advantage. It seemed that every American player on the ice wanted a piece of Idaho’s Jade Miller. Only a couple got to him, and they both received double-minors for roughing. Failing to score on the power play for the remainder of the first frame, Idaho and Allen were tied up at 1 after a period in downtown Boise.

Idaho outshot the Amerks, 17-9, for the first period. Marco Constantini had a solid opening frame. He stopped 16 of those 17 and stoned some solid Steelheads shot attempts. Bryan Thomson, on the other side of the ice, stopped 8 of the 9 he saw, similar to Constantini in that he made a couple of nice saves.

Advantage Allen after 40 minutes from Idaho Central Arena. Almost all square after two frames, Hank Crone said, “I don’t think so” (probably). Crone’s one-time blast put the Amerks ahead with just 15 seconds to go in the middle stanza. Allen returned the favor from the first period where Idaho outshot them, the Amerks outshot Idaho 17-11 in the second.

All square after 60 minutes in Idaho. Ben Zloty had the lone goal that evened things up, his third straight with a point firing in the open cage at 7:54. Thomson was big between the pipes for the Steelheads, especially late in regulation when he was tested numerous times. The majority of Allen’s shots came late in the frame, they were outshot 8-7.

Ty Pelton-Byce called game! After Murphy was denied on the doorstep by the pad he set up Ty who roofed it to send the home fans home happy with his game-winner 58 seconds into the extra session.
