ECHL Game Recap: Maine Mariners vs Adirondack Thunder | 04/12/2025

Maine Mariners Goaltender makes a save vs Adirondack Thunder
Dakota Gilbert/Adirondack Thunder

The Adirondack Thunder wrapped up their home slate on Saturday Night in front of a franchise record 5,560 fans for the team’s 16th sellout of the season. On the ice, it would be a slow start for the Thunder as their first shot on goal came more than eight minutes in. Brian Carrabes would get a golden chance to get the Thunder on the board as Brendan Less fed him on a two-on-one, but Carrabes would miss the wide-open net. Maine would outshoot the Thunder 10-7 in the first period, but neither team could find the scoresheet.

“The fans have been behind us the entire year. This is such a cool place to play, the community is just fully behind you. We’ve had our ups and downs, mostly downs, but the community just stuck with us the entire time and I know how much it meant to me, the entire group in there, and Pete. It was really special the last game at home was this busy. The fans were in it and their goalie played great, it’s tough to lose but this is such a cool spot. It was a really cool feeling for everyone to come out after the year we had you expect people to not show as much support cause we’re not in the playoffs we’re not winning but on a game like this and a game like this with this many people supporting us was really special”

Darian Skeoch on the record crowd tonight in Adirondack

In the second, it would be all Adirondack Thunder as they had themselves a shooting gallery. Carrabes would feed Kevin O’Neil for a tip-in front of the net, but Nolan Maier would make an unbelievable save to keep the game scoreless. Alex Sheehy threw a big hit on Kishaun Gervais that got the attention of Darian Skeoch as Sheehy and Skeoch dropped the gloves at the 16:55 mark. Adirondack somehow came out of that with a five-on-three, which ended with nine seconds left on the Thunder PP. Kishaun Gervais had a golden opportunity coming out of the box as he got a breakaway opportunity, but Maier would stop Gervais for one of his 20 saves in the middle frame, as we stayed scoreless after 40.

Heading into the third, both teams were still looking to break the stalemate as Adirondack hoped to give their fans one last thing to cheer about. The Thunder would get their chances on their fifth PP, but couldn’t put a puck past Maier. Maine would finally get the first goal as Wyllum Deveaux cashed in on the fourth PP of the night for the Mariners, putting one over the glove hand of Brodeur at the 12:58 mark of the period. Lynden McCallum picked up his 100th ECHL point with an assist on the goal. Adirondack would pull Brodeur with 2:30 to go, but would be shutout for the third time this season. Maier finished the night with 34 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. Adirondack and Maine will wrap up the regular season game tomorrow afternoon in Maine with a 3 pm puck drop.
