To no surprise, the opening frame saw a combined 18 penalty minutes, including fighting majors for Darick Louis-Jean and Morgan Adams-Moisan. It took just over nine minutes for the Lions to take get the game’s opening goal. Off an offensive zone faceoff, Tommy Cormier took a low and hard shot that was kicked out by Kakisuo. Justin Ducharme found the rebound and buried it home for a 1-0 lead. That would be all the first period saw. Cavallin kept the Admirals off the board, making saves on all 10 shots he faced.

With neither team scoring, the Lions held on to their 1-0 lead through 40 minutes. Penalties were early and often in the second period. Out of frustration and hate for one another, the teams combined for 59 penalty minutes. This included a fighting major, a cross checking major to the Lions, and multiple 10-minute misconducts. Norfolk still held a 19-14 shot advantage through two periods of play.

Action in the third period was minimal, but the Lions were able to extend their lead. At 10:36, Isaac Dufort found the loose puck around the net and buried it in on his backhand to make it 2-0. The Lions would make it 3-0 just over four minutes later, thanks to Xavier Cormier. Norfolk could not find a way to get anything past Cavallin and would lose by a 3-0 final.
