ECHL Game Recap: Savannah Ghost Pirates vs. Atlanta Gladiators | 12/19/2024

In last night’s game for the Savannah Ghost Pirates, you couldn’t wave a magic wand at them. On Savannah’s wizard night, the Atlanta Gladiators bumped them into the last spot of the South Division, but the semi-good news is that only five points separate third place from seventh place.

First Period

During the first period, both teams battled hard, but Atlanta got an advantage at 5:04 when Randy Hernandez shot the puck past Evan Cormier. Blake Murray and Patriks Marcinkevics earned the helpers on Hernández’s fifth goal of the season.

Savannah Broadcaster Cristiano Simonetta mentioned the following during the broadcast in the opening frame:

  • Ross Armour had returned from injury. This was his first game since becoming injured on November 23rd.
  • Nathan Staios was moved to forward due to being down forwards at the moment
  • Forward Devon Paliani is on a hot streak right now with 12 points in his last 7 games

The lone penalty of the period went to Andre Anania for tripping -Two Minutes

Second Period

Savannah responded back in the middle frame with the lone goal of the night coming from Liam Walsh at 4:51. Assistant Captain Will Riedell and Keaton Pehrson earned the helpers on Walsh’s fourth goal of the season.

Second Period Penalties:

Derek Topatigh- Roughing- Two Minutes

Logan Drevitch- Roughing- Two Minutes

Easton Armstrong- High-Sticking- Two Minutes

Evan Nause- Slashing- Two Minutes

Third Period

Atlanta opened the floodgates by scoring in the final frame, which led to winning the game. Eric Neiley earned his eighth goal of the year at 2:27, coming off of the assist of Cody Sylvester and Zach Yoder. Less than two minutes later, at 4:13, ECHL Player of the Week Blake Murray earned his seventh goal of the year. Andrew Jarvis and Patriks Marcinkevics earned the helpers. This was Marcinkevics second point on the night. At 4:44, Sylvester earned his second point of the night and goal unassisted to win the game.

Third Period Penalties:

Dylan Carabia- Slashing- Two Minutes

Zach Yoder- Hooking- Two Minutes
