ECHL: Goaltender Brett Brochu Heads Overseas

Fort Wayne Komets Goaltender Brett Brochu is heading overseas to Germany to join ERC Ingolstadt of the DEL. During the 2024-25 season, Brochu went 20-10-5 with a 2.42 GAA, .923SV%, and one shutout in 35 games with the Fort Wayne Komets. The Belle River, Ontario native also saw nine appearances during the Kelly Cup Playoffs going 4-4-1 with a 3.14 GAA and .879SV%. He also spent five games in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors, where he went 2-3 with a 2.83 GAA and .913SV%. Brett Brochu, 22, spent the last two seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets, posting a 27-21-6 record, 2.50 GAA, .922SV%, and two shutouts. He also saw seven AHL games with three different teams, putting up a combined 2-4 record with a 3.03 GAA, and .906SV%. Brochu becomes the second player from Fort Wayne to take the overseas route, joining Alex Swetlikoff.

Prior to going pro, Brochu spent three seasons in the OHL with the London Knights. In 132 games with the Knights, he went 89-34-4 with a 2.67 GAA, .910 SV%, and six shutouts, and would rack up awards in the three years he played with the Knights. During the 2019-20 season, he would lead all goaltenders in GAA (2.40) and be named to the OHL First All-Rookie Team. The following year, he’d be named to the OHL First All-Star Team and be named the OHL Goaltender of the Year. He would also win a Gold Medal with Canada during the U20 World Junior Championships. He would be named to the OHL Second All-Star Team in his final season with the Knights.
