The Atlanta Gladiators have announced the signing of Goaltender Jaxon Castor to their 2023-2024 roster. At the conclusion of the previous season, Castor made two appearances for the Florida Everblades, where he recorded a .912 save percentage. Before joining the professional ranks, Castor played for five seasons with St. Cloud State University, Minnesota.

During his final season with the Huskies, Castor started in 22 games and appeared in 23. Castor concluded the season with a 14-8-1 record, boasting a 2.02 goals-against-average and .924 save percentage. In program career records, he held an impressive fourth rank in goals against average (GAA) with 2.38, while his ninth rank in save percentage (.910). He ranked 10th in shutouts (4) and 14th in wins (20), further highlighting his contributions to the team that season. In the single-season program records for St. Cloud, his GAA ranked second, while his four shutouts ranked third, and his save percentage ranked fifth nationally.

Castor proved to be an asset to the Huskies, helping to guide the team to victory in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff championship, where they earned a spot in the NCAA Regional Championship game. Castor’s impressive play earned him recognition on the All-Tournament teams for both the NCHC Frozen Faceoff and NCAA Fargo Regional. His stellar record is complemented by a 0.97 GAA and a .957 save percentage in the tournament, which undoubtedly earned him these accolades.

It’s noteworthy to mention that the goaltender achieved a significant accomplishment by being only the second in the NCHC Championship game to achieve a shutout. This was made possible by his ability to make 17 saves against Colorado College, helping the team to a 3-0 victory. Notably, he also became the first goaltender for the Huskies to accomplish a shutout in an NCAA Tournament game against Minnesota State, stopping all 34 shots on goal. He ranked 10th in goals against average and 14th in save percentage, which played a vital role in leading his team to a 4-0 victory over the Mavericks.

The undefeated Gladiators are on the road this weekend, facing off against the South Carolina Stingrays tonight and the Jacksonville Icemen on Saturday evening.
