ECHL: Goaltender Seth Eisele Signs AHL Contract

Seth Eisele recently signed a contract with the Hershey Bears (AHL) for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. Although he signed with the South Carolina Stingrays this past August and remains on their roster, this move signifies a major milestone in his career, highlighting his growth and potential as a goaltender. Eisele’s standout performances in the ECHL, including his impressive debut with the Stingrays, have certainly paved the way for this opportunity.

In terms of statistics, Eisele’s save percentage and goals-against average (GAA) are competitive with other top goaltenders in the league. He has participated in four games for South Carolina to date, earning three wins. He holds a GAA of 1.50 and a save percentage (SV%) of 0.948. Over the course of 241 minutes, he has faced 115 shots and conceded six goals. He kicked off his professional career by snagging shutouts in both of his debut games—first shutting down the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on October 26th and then doing the same to the Florida Everblades on November 1st.

While he is still early in his professional career, his collegiate record and early ECHL performances suggest he has the skills to continue competing at a high level. Eisele, who recently concluded his NCAA eligibility prior to joining the Stingrays, spent his first three years at Lake Superior State University, achieving a record of 14-16 with a 2.74 GAA and a .912 SV%. In his final year of eligibility, he transferred to the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he recorded a 4-1-1 record with a 2.37 GAA and a .937 SV% across eight appearances.

At 6’5″, his height enables him to cover a larger portion of the net, making it difficult for shooters to find openings. Remarkably agile despite his size, he can execute quick lateral movements and recover swiftly after initial saves. His strong technical abilities, including exceptional positioning and puck tracking, allow him to anticipate and respond effectively. His consistent performance, highlighted by a recent shutout in his professional debut, underscores this. These qualities earned him the title of ECHL Goaltender of the Week for October 21-27. Eisele was selected for this recognition after his impressive professional debut, where he recorded a shutout with 24 saves in the 5-0 victory over the Swamp Rabbits.
