Greenville, S.C. — In the last week, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits have made three signings to their 2024-25 season roster. Of those three, they signed two rookie forwards, Patrick Moynihan and Stuart Rolofs. But today, Sept. 10, the club announced that they have acquired 5-foot-7 forward Zach White from the Worcester Railers in exchange for future considerations. The transaction was originally posted by the Fort Wayne Komets for a future considerations trade by the Rabbits to receive Arvid Caderoth.

About Zach White

White will be entering his sixth season in professional hockey. Prior to his acquisition by the Swamp Rabbits, the 28-year-old, 5-foot-7 and 165 pound forward hailing from Milford, Connecticut played 55 games last season for the Railers, where he accumulated 12 goals and ten assists for 22 points. In the season before that, he played a near full season of 71 games for the Iowa Heartlanders. He notched 40 points from 20 even goals and assists.

His First ECHL Exposure

For the 2021-22 season, White was loaned to the Heartlanders after beginning the season with the Vermilion County Bobcats in the SPHL, having played only eight games — with four goals and two assists tallied. This would be his first professional season in the ECHL, as the center would participate in 52 games. For his inaugural season in the “Coast,” white contributed a solid record of 51 points from 18 goals and 33 assists.

Humble Beginnings In Professional Hockey

White made his professional debut during the 2018-19 season in the SPHL after completing his fourth season with Curry College (NCAA Div. III). In his inaugural professional hockey campaign, the center played in only two games for the Fayetteville Marksmen. During the following season, in 2019-20, White played in 26 games in France for Cholet. He contributed 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points. In addition, he also played in one game during the French Cup, where he posted just one goal.

After his overseas campaign, he flew back to North America to play in the “Fed” or FPHL for the Carolina Thunderbirds. He notched 16 points in 20 games from eight goals and eight assists, respectively.

In total, White has accrued four seasons of experience in the ECHL, with 178 games played and a record of 113 points from 50 goals and 63 assists.

This is a solid acquisition by the Swamp Rabbits. White offers depth as a bottom-three forward who can make plays as a slick, smaller-built center. He possesses a wealth of experience in the two leagues directly below the Premier Double-A Hockey League. This extensive background provides him with a profound understanding of the game and the ability to contribute to the Rabbits in several key areas — including experience, leadership, and playmaking.

The Swamp Rabbits will commence the 2024-25 regular season at home ice against the Orlando Solar Bears on Oct. 18. They will also host a preseason game against the South Carolina Stingrays on October 9th at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
