The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are bringing back speed and scoring depth, re-signing forward Jack Brackett for the 2025-26 Season.

Impact in Greenville

Brackett, 24, joined the Swamp Rabbits late last season after wrapping up his NCAA career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). In just 15 games with Greenville, the Manassas, VA native scored five goals and added two assists for seven points, showing off explosive speed, quick hands, and the ability to create chances in transition.

For Brackett, coming back was an easy choice. Brackett stated:

“Over the month I was in Greenville, I got to meet passionate fans and explore an incredible city. There’s so much for me here in my development as a player, so I’m excited to run it back this upcoming fall” (Greenville Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

NCAA Career

Before turning pro, Brackett spent four seasons at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), appearing in 117 games. His NCAA totals include 12 goals, 25 assists, and 37 points, with just 22 penalty minutes in his entire college career—a sign of his disciplined, high-energy style. His senior season in 2024-25 was his most productive, recording six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 35 games, while finishing +4. He also posted three multi-point games that year and was a key part of RPI’s penalty kill.

Junior Roots

Brackett’s path to college hockey showcased his offensive skill at multiple levels. In the BCHL with the Powell River Kings in 2019-20, he scored 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points in 46 games, adding two playoff appearances. In the NAHL with the Maryland Black Bears, he tallied five goals in just 13 games. His best junior scoring season came in the NCDC with the Boston Jr. Bandits in 2018-19, where he put up 23 goals and 14 assists for 37 points in 43 games, plus two playoff games. He also logged USHL experience with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in 2018-19 and earlier stints with the Bandits’ 18U squad.

Coach’s Perspective

Swamp Rabbits Head Coach and GM Chad Costello is eager to have Brackett back.

“In 15 games last season, Jack proved he can play and produce at the ECHL level. He is one of those players that you can move up and down the lineup, and his game remains the same: he’s young, fast, strong, skilled, and a team-first guy” (Greenville Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

Looking Ahead

Brackett’s combination of high-end speed, offensive touch, and special-teams versatility gives Greenville a weapon who can impact games in multiple ways. With a full ECHL season ahead, he has the tools to push his scoring totals higher and help drive the Swamp Rabbits’ offense in their pursuit of another strong South Division campaign.

With a full ECHL season ahead, Brackett aims to bring consistency to his game.

“I learned how hard it is to be good every single night, so working on that consistency and understanding how much effort it takes to be good on any given night is truly important. This city and this team is deserving of winning hockey, and it starts with day one of training camp in October” (Greenville Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

The Swamp Rabbits open the 2025-26 season on Friday, October 17, hosting the Utah Grizzlies at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM EDT.
