Rich LeBlanc/InsideTheRink

Worcester Railers defenseman Griffin Luce is heading overseas to England to join the Dundee Stars of the EIHL after spending his first five professional seasons in North America. In 71 games last season with the Railers, Luce had a career season putting up five goals and 15 assists for 20 points. Luce would lead all Worcester defensemen with 78 PIMS. He would also play a game in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack. It was a rough Friday for the Railers as they lost Matthew Kopperud and Griffin Luce to teams overseas.

Luce, 27, spent three seasons in the ECHL with the Rapid City Rush, Atlanta Gladiators, and Worcester Railers. In 146 games, he’s put up eight goals and 26 assists for 34 points. During his time in the AHL, he spent time with the Rochester Americans, Springfield Thunderbirds, Milwaukee Admirals, and Hartford Wolf Pack. The Williamsville, NY, native had two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 94 games. Luce saw action in two Calder Cup Playoff games with the Thunderbirds in the 2022 Calder Cup Playoffs but couldn’t find the scoresheet.

Collegiate and Junior Career

Prior to going pro, Luce spent four seasons at the University of Michigan putting up three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 131 games with the Wolverines. He would wear in “A” for the Wolverines during his final year at the Michigan. Luce would also play for USA during the 2016 U18 World Junior Championships where he put up a goal and an assist and would take home a Bronze Medal.
