The Florida Everblades have re-signed defenseman Hunter Sansbury for the 2025-26 season.

A Look at Sansbury’s Career

Sansbury, 24, spent four seasons at Sacred Heart University, where he established himself as a steady presence on the blue line and a respected leader. In his final two seasons, he served as team captain, anchoring the defense and contributing at both ends of the ice.

During his collegiate career, Sansbury appeared in 148 games, tallying 64 points with 18 goals and 46 assists. In his senior season (2024-25), he posted 21 points—including six goals and 15 assists—while adding 30 penalty minutes across 39 games.

After completing his NCAA career, Sansbury made his transition to professional hockey late in the 2024-25 season, signing with the Florida Everblades. He appeared in nine games with Florida, gaining his first taste of the pro level and beginning the next chapter of his hockey journey.

What Sansbury Brings to Florida

Sansbury adds size and physical play to the Everblades’ defense. He was recognized for his shutdown ability in his own zone while also contributing offensively when needed. With his first professional hockey experience under his belt, he’s ready to make a bigger impact in his first full ECHL season with the Everblades.

Opening Night on the Road

Sansbury and the Everblades will open the 2025–26 season on the road, facing the Orlando Solar Bears on Friday, October 17th at the Kia Center in Orlando.

Puck Drop: 7:00 PM EDT
Location: Kia Center, Orlando, FL
