The Idaho Steelheads have announced that they have re-signed 5’11” forward Mason Nevers for the 2025-26 season.

Junior and Collegiate Career

Mason Nevers started his junior career in the 2018-19 season playing with the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL. In two seasons with the Buccaneers, Nevers played in 50 games, where he had 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points with 20 penalty minutes and a -4. He served as an alternate captain for the Buccaneers in his second season.

Nevers then went on to start his collegiate career playing Division I hockey at the University of Minnesota. He spent five seasons with the Golden Gophers, captaining the team in his final two seasons. In 171 collegiate games, Nevers registered 27 goals and 39 assists for 66 points with 22 penalty minutes and a +47. Nevers and the Gophers won the B1G championship in the 2020-21 season and were the B1G Regular Season Champions in the 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2024-25 seasons.

Professional Career

After completing his collegiate career in the 2024-25 season, Nevers signed with the Idaho Steelheads to complete his 2024-25 season. He played in six games with the Steelheads, where he had two goals and one assist with two penalty minutes and a +2.

Nevers is not the biggest player, but on the ice, he is a very fierce competitor. He has quite a bit of speed, allowing him to get up and down the ice quickly, and is very aggressive on the puck, making it extremely difficult for the opposition to gain possession of the puck. Nevers is able to read the ice well, helping him find open areas so he can get a shot off, or getting to the front of the net to screen the goaltender, or pick up a rebound.
