ECHL: Idaho Steelheads Sign Pair From Edina, Minnesota

The Idaho Steelheads have announced that they have signed 5’11” forward Grant Silianoff and 6’1″ defenseman Jake Boltmann for the 2025-26 season. Idaho now has seven forwards and four defenseman signed for the 2025-26 season.

Grant Silianoff’s Career

Grant Silianoff spent his junior career in the USHL, where he spent three seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Silianoff played in 100 USHL games, where he had 33 goals and 42 assists for 75 points. He registered two goals and one assist with a -1 in six playoff games. In the 2018-19 season, Silianoff was named to the USHL All-Rookie Second Team.

After completing his junior career, Silianoff started his collegiate career playing Division I hockey at the University of Notre Dame. In five seasons with the Fighting Irish, he had 21 goals and 33 assists for 54 points in 159 games. In the 2024-25 season, Silianoff played in 38 games, where he had five goals and three assists for eight points.

Jake Boltmann’s Career

Boltmann spent his junior career playing in the USHL. He split his time between the Central Illinois Flying Aces and Lincoln Stars. In 35 USHL games, he registered two goals and eight assists for ten points.

After starting the 2020-21 season with the Stars, Boltmann made the jump to Division I collegiate hockey halfway through the season, joining the University of Notre Dame. After four seasons at Notre Dame, Boltmann entered the transfer portal for his final season, ending his collegiate career at Northeastern University. In 161 collegiate games, Boltmann had four goals and 28 assists for 32 points. Last season, he had two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 35 games at Northeastern.

Both Silianoff and Boltmann will be entering their rookie season with the Steelheads. So, it may take some time for both of them to settle into playing the ECHL style of hockey and finding their game. But once they have found how their game fits into the Steelheads’ game plan, Silianoff could become a pretty good forward for the Steelheads, and Boltmann could become a pretty lethal defenseman.
