ECHL: Jack Dugan Heads Overseas

Fort Wayne Komets captain Jack Dugan is heading overseas to Germany to join the Bietigheim Steelers of the DEL2. He spent his first five professional seasons in North America. In 70 games this season, Dugan had 23 goals and 53 assists for 76 points, while leading the Komets in all offensive categories. For the second straight season, Dugan would lead the league in assists. He would add five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff Games. It’s been a rough two weeks for the Komets as they’ve now lost Alex Swetlikoff, Brett Brochu, and Jack Dugan.

Dugan, 27, was originally drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights in the fifth round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He spent his first two seasons with the Henderson Silver Knights before moving on to the Utica Comets and Chicago Wolves the following season. Dugan would put up 27 goals and 53 assists for 80 points in 131 AHL games. He had three goals and one assist for four points in five games during the 2021 Calder Cup Playoffs. In his two seasons with the Komets, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native put up 43 goals and 113 assists for 156 points in 140 games. He would be named to the ECHL All-Star Team in 2024 and be named to the ECHL Second All-Star Team.

Collegiate/Junior Career

Prior to going pro, Dugan spent a year with the Chicago Steel in the USHL, where he had 31 goals and 35 assists for 66 points in 51 games. His 31 goals and 66 points would lead the team. He would then spend the next two seasons at Providence College. In 75 games with the Friars, he would put up 20 goals and 71 assists for 91 points. During the 2019-20 season, Dugan had 10 goals and 42 points in 52 games with Providence. He would lead the NCAA in assists and points and would be nominated as a Hobey Baker Finalist.
