The Jacksonville Icemen have announced that they’ve signed forward Davis Koch for the 2024-25 season. Koch, 26, is coming off his rookie year in the ECHL, where he put up 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points in 36 games with the Iowa Heartlanders. He would also play two games with the Iowa Wild at the AHL level before heading overseas to Germany to play in the DEL3 with the Hannover Scorpions, where he put up four assists in five games.
He becomes the 15th player to sign with the Icemen for the 2024-25 season and is the second member of the Heartlanders to join Jacksonville after Liam Coughlin signed earlier this Summer. Koch could easily be a middle-six forward for the Icemen, and after his showing last year in Iowa, he could be a player who could put up 20-25 goals next season.
Koch had spent the previous four seasons putting up 33 goals and 63 assists for 96 points in the DEL2. He would also play in 28 games in the DEL, where he had four goals and four assists for eight points. Prior to beginning his career in Germany, the Surrey, BC native spent parts of six seasons in the WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings and Vancouver Giants, putting up 91 goals and 164 assists in 255 games. He would captain the Oil Kings during the 2017-18 season before being traded to Vancouver. He would lead Vancouver in scoring during the 2018-19 season, where he put up 28 goals and 50 assists for 78 points in 67 games.
