The Jacksonville Icemen have announced that they have signed forward Brandon Puricelli and defenseman Mackenzie Dwyer to contracts for the 2024-25 season. These signings bring the Icemen’s roster to 21 players.
Puricelli, 26, is entering his second full season in the league as he’s put up nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in 63 games with four different teams, including the Icemen. The Ellisville, Missouri native would play four years at the NCAA level, including a year at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and his final three years at Lake Superior University, putting up 28 goals and 28 assists for 56 points in 96 NCAA games. Lake Superior State would win a WCHA Championship in 2021. Puricelli was the NAHL’s Midwest forward and MVP of the Year in 2019 when he put up 30 goals and 50 assists for 80 points in 59 games with the Springfield Jr. Blues.
Dwyer, 27, is entering his fifth season in the ECHL, where he’s scored three goals and 17 assists for 20 points in 92 games. This is his second stint with the Icemen after spending time with the team during the 2022-23 season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native also spent two seasons in the SPHL with the Birmingham Bulls, where he scored two goals and 15 assists for 17 points in 66 games. Prior to going pro, he spent parts of three seasons in the WHL with the Everett Silvertips and Saskatoon Blades, where he scored one goal and three assists for four points in 35 games.
