The Jacksonville Icemen have announced that they’ve signed defenseman Robert Calisti for the 2024-25 season. Calisti, 23, will be entering his third season in the ECHL as he’s put up 23 goals and 39 assists for 62 points in 120 career games with the Florida Everblades, Kalamazoo Wings, and Atlanta Gladiators. He has been traded in each of the last two seasons. The 5’9,183lb defenseman also played one game at the AHL level with the Belleville Senators, where he picked up an assist during the 2020-21 season.
For the Icemen, they get an offensive defenseman who put up 12 goals in 42 games during his rookie season and finished last year with 11 goals in 53 games. Dajon Mingo was the last Icemen defenseman to hit a double-digit goal total, as he had 11 goals during the 2018-19 season. Calisti becomes the sixth defenseman and 17th player to sign with Jacksonville for the 2024-25 season. Heading into next season, there is no doubt that Calisti should be on either of the top two pairings for the Icemen to begin the season.
Prior to going pro, the Toronto, Ontario native spent four seasons in the OHL with the Soo Greyhounds where he would put up 41 goals and 73 assists for 114 points in 195 games. Calisti led all defensemen in goals during the 2019-20 season (18) and again in 2021-22 (21). He would add a goal and five assists for six points in 10 career OHL Playoff Games and won an OHL Cup silver medal in 2017.
