ECHL: Jacksonville Icemen Transactions | 04/11/2024

The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL Buffalo Sabres and AHL Rochester Americans, have claimed forward Justin McRae on waivers from the Wheeling Nailers.

Justin McRae, 25, is a 6’2, right-handed forward from Peterborough, ONT. McRae spent five seasons playing in the Central Canadian Hockey League from 2015 – 2020. During his time in the CCHL, McRae spent his time with the Cornwall Colts; McRae accumulated a total of 29 goals and 40 assists. McRae also played two seasons for the Brockville Braves, where he accumulated 41 goals and 41 assists. McRae would then go to the University of Ottawa for three years. He could allocate 11 goals and 12 assists. The 25-year-old forward signed with the Nailers on April 3 and spent a little over a month with the team, where he put up two goals and one assist in 13 games before being waived. The Icemen will be McRae’s third team this season as we will look to earn his spot on the Icemen’s Kelly Cup Playoff Roster.

The Jacksonville Icemen will finish out the regular season at home, hosting the Savannah Ghost Pirates on Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. They will then host the Atlanta Gladiators on Saturday, April 13, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m. Jacksonville is one of two South Division teams that have already punched their ticket to the Kelly Cup Playoffs heading into the final weekend. The Icemen will need at least one win this weekend to secure home ice advantage in the first round.
