Kansas City Mavericks forward Jacob Hayhurst is heading to Sweden after spending the last four seasons in the AHL and ECHL. Hayhurst would spend four seasons at the NCAA level as he spent three years at RPI before spending his final year of eligibility at the University of Michigan. He would put up 30 goals and 51 assists for 81 points in 138 NCAA games. The Ontario native would begin his ECHL career during the 2020-21 season, where he would play in just 19 combined games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Wheeling Nailers as he would put up a goal and seven assists. Hayhurst would join the Worcester Railers for the 2021-22 season, and that’s where Hayhurst would find his game as he would end up spending the next two seasons in the New York Islanders organization, where he would put up 25 goals and 45 assists for 70 points with the Worcester Railers at the ECHL level and would add two goals and five assists for seven points in 28 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds, the 27-year-old forward also saw three games with the Hartford Wolf Pack during the 2021-22 season but failed to find the scoresheet.

Prior to the 2023-24 season, Hayhurst signed an AHL deal with the Coachella Valley Firebirds. However, he spent the entire 2023-24 season in the ECHL with the Kansas City Mavericks. It was a career year for Hayhurst, as he scored 37 goals and 39 assists for 76 points in 70 games and finished second in goals for the Mavericks behind Patrick Curry, who finished the year with 39. Hayhurst would add five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 18 Kelly Cup Playoff Games as the Mavericks would end up losing to the Florida Everblades in five games in the Kelly Cup Final.
