
The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced that they’ve re-signed forward Jake McGrew for the 2025-26 season. In 70 games with Tahoe last season, the 26-year-old forward put up 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 points. He would add one goal during the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs. It was his first time back in the ECHL since the 2021-22 season when he played three games with the Orlando Solar Bears. McGrew is the second player to sign with Tahoe for next season, joining Anthony Collins.
The Orange, California native had spent two seasons overseas in Sweden prior to joining the Knight Monsters. He would put up eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 61 games with AIK and Västerviks IK in HockeyAllsvenskan. Prior to going to Sweden, the sixth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks would play in 84 games with the San Jose Barracuda, where he put up 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points. He would add two goals and an assist for three points in four games during the 2021 Calder Cup Playoffs. McGrew also saw action in 14 ECHL games with the Orlando Solar Bears and Allen Americans, where he would put up nine goals and five assists for 14 points.
Junior Career
Prior to going pro, Jake McGrew played three seasons in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs, where he put up 55 goals and 45 assists for 100 points in 132 games. He would add four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 21 WHL Playoff games. McGrew finished second in goals (31) for the Chiefs during the 2018-19 season.
