ECHL: Jordan Martel Heads Overseas

Wheeling Nailers forward Jordan Martel is heading overseas to Slovakia to join HK Dukla Michalovce after spending his first four seasons in North America. During the 2024-25 season, Martel would put up 16 goals and 31 assists for 47 points in 56 games with the Nailers. He would add one assist in five games during the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Martel would also see 11 games at the AHL level with the Chicago Wolves, where he’d put up four goals. Martel, 27, has played in 177 ECHL games while spending time with the Fort Wayne Komets, Utah Grizzlies, and Wheeling Nailers. He’s put up 71 goals and 87 assists for 158 points. He’s added six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 21 career Kelly Cup Playoff games.

Jordan Martel becomes the fifth Nailer to sign outside of the AHL/ECHL for the 2025-26 season. He joins Lars Rønde, Eli Lieffers, Chrystopher Collins, and Louie Roehl in that department.

Prior to going pro, the Saguenay, Quebec, Native played four seasons in the QMJHL and another two in USports. In 253 games with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar (QMJHL), Martel would put up 98 goals and 106 assists for 204 points. He had two goals and four assists for six points in 16 QMJHL Playoff games. Martel would then play two seasons at the University of Quèbec-Trois-Rivières. In his two years with the Patriots, he would put up 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points in 38 games. The Patriots won the USports University Cup in 2022.
