ECHL: Josh Filmon and Dylan Wendt Called Up To Utica Comets

Adirondack Thunder Transactions Graphic

The Adirondack Thunder will likely be without two big pieces on Wednesday Night vs Indy Fuel, as forwards Josh Filmon and Dylan Wendt were recalled to the Utica Comets earlier today.

Wendt, 24, has been bouncing between Adirondack and Utica lately, but he spent the majority of his season in Adirondack, playing in 43 games. He put up nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points in 43 games with the Thunder, including six points in his last five games with Adirondack. In seven games with the Comets, he’s up two assists.

Filmon, 21, has been one of the bright spots for the Thunder, putting up 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points, and is tied for the team lead in points. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native has played nine games with Utica this season, eight of which came at the beginning of the season, but has yet to find the scoresheet. Filmon scored his first pro goal with the Comets back during the 2022-23 season, where he played in four games.

What Does This Mean For Adirondack

The Thunder are now short two forwards, with Wendt and Filmon heading to Utica. I would expect to see one or two more signings before Wednesday, and I would expect Pete MacArthur to go the rookie route, seeing the recent success of Isaiah Fox, Kaleb Ergang, and Caden Villegas, who all picked up points last weekend. Adirondack might also be in the market for another goaltender, depending on the status of Tyler Brennan and Jeremy Brodeur, which forced Henry Welsch to play in all three games last weekend for the Thunder.
