
Maine Mariners forward Josh Nixon is heading to the EIHL to join the Guildford Flames after playing just four games with the Mariners last season. Nixon would sign with the Mariners on March 19th and played in four games with his only point coming as an assist on March 23rd vs Adirondack Thunder. He becomes the first Mariner to take the overseas route this summer.
Prior to going pro, Josh Nixon spent his junior career in the OJHL, USHL, and NAHL. His best numbers came in the OJHL, where he spent time with the Georgetown Raiders and Oakville Blades. The Mississauga, Ontario native would put up 27 goals and 40 assists for 67 points in 101 OJHL games. He would also win an OJHL Championship with the Blades in 2019. Nixon would then spend a year in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers, putting up eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 48 games. Before heading to the NCAA, Nixon would make one more stop in the NAHL with the Maryland Black Bears. In 42 games with the Black Bears, he would put up nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points.
The 25-year-old forward began his NCAA career at Lake Superior State University as a member of the Lakers, where he put up eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 37 games. Nixon would then make the move to Union College, where he would spend the next three years. In his three seasons with the Chargers, he would put up 34 goals and 32 assists for 66 points in 106 games.
