ECHL: Kalamazoo Wings Bring Back Ryan Cox

The Kalamazoo Wings stayed busy on Tuesday, as they announced the re-signing of forward Ryan Cox for the 2025-26 season. Cox played in all 72 games last year for Kalamazoo, putting up nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points. He was one of three players from Kalamazoo to play in all 72 games last season. Earlier in the day, Kalmazoo traded defenseman Luc Salem to the Utah Grizzlies. The K-Wings now have two defenseman and seven players signed for the 2025-26 season.

The St. Albert, Alberta, native is entering his fourth year in the ECHL. He’s spent time with the Toledo Walleye, Orlando Solar Bears, Reading Royals, and Kalamazoo Wings. He’s put up 28 goals and 31 assists for 59 points. Prior to going pro, he spent four seasons at the NCAA level with Niagara University. In 152 games with the Purple Eagles, he put up 35 goals and 34 assists for 69 points. He would be named to the AHA All-Academic Team in 2019.

The 27-year-old forward spent his junior days in the AJHL with the Sherwood Park Cruisers, Spruce Grove Saints, and Fort McMurray Oil Barrons. In his first year in the league, he put up five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 41 games. He spent parts of the next two seasons with the Oil Barrons, putting up 30 goals and 35 assists for 65 points in 69 games. Ryan Cox finished his junior career with the Cruisers, putting up 30 goals and 23 assists for 53 points in 43 games. He finished second on the team in goals that season. His first AJHL game came with Sherwood Park during the 2014-15 season as he picked up an assist.
