ECHL: Kalamazoo Wings Sign Rookie Forward

The Kalamazoo Wings have announced that they’ve signed rookie forward Mikey Colella for the 2025-26 season. Colella, 26, had four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 37 games during his last year of eligibility at Canisius College. He was one of only five skaters to play in all 37 games last year with the Golden Griffins. Colella has a chance to be a solid middle-six winger for Kalamazoo next season. With the signing of Colella, the K-Wings have ten forwards and 15 players on their preseason roster.

The Turnsville, New Jersey, native spent his first four seasons in the NCAA with Northern Michigan University. In 132 games with the Wildcats, he put up 33 goals and 31 assists for 64 points. There is a small handful of players signed in Kalamazoo for next season who attended either Northern or Western Michigan University.

“I’m really excited to be joining the K-Wings organization,” Colella said. “Kalamazoo has a great hockey tradition and passionate fan base, and I can’t wait to get on the ice and contribute to help us win.”
