The Kansas City Mavericks have announced that they have re-signed 6’1″ defenseman Thomas Farrell for the 2025-26 season.
Junior and Collegiate Career
Thomas Farrell started his junior career in the NAHL playing parts of two seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Farrell played in 61 total games with the Knights where he had four goals and 25 assists for 29 points. In the 2017-18 season, he was named to the NAHL East All-Rookie Team, NAHL East All-Star Team, and NAHL All-Rookie Second Team. Farrell then spent the 2018-19 season playing in the USHL with the Youngstown Phantoms putting up three goals and seven assists in 58 games played.
After completing his junior career, Farrell started his collegiate career playing Division I hockey at the Army US Military Academy, serving as an alternate captain his junior season and captaining the team his senior season. Through four seasons with Army, Farrell played in 126 games, registering 16 goals and 46 assists for 62 points. In the 2020-21 season, Farrell was named to the AHA East First All-Star Team.
Professional Career
The Lake Bluff, Illinois native then started his professional career in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye. Farrell then joined the Indy Fuel before eventually landing a spot with the Kansas City Mavericks. Farrell has played in 83 ECHL games, where he has four goals and 12 assists for 16 points. In the 2024-25 season with the Mavericks, he had three assists in 22 games played.
Thomas Farrell adds a lot of depth to the Mavericks blue line. He always gives 100% when he is on the ice and has a physical style of play allowing him to force turnovers, making it very difficult for opponents to score when he is on the ice. Farrell also brings a lot of leadership to the Mavericks with his previous experience at Army, allowing him to help motivate and get the team going.
