ECHL: Kansas City Mavericks Announce Affiliate Extension

Kansas City Mavericks

The Kansas City Mavericks recently announced the extension of their affiliation agreement with the NHL’s Seattle Kraken and the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds for two more seasons. In this agreement, the Mavericks will retain their role as the ECHL affiliate of both the Kraken and Firebirds. In the 2023-24 season, Coachella Valley, and Kansas City have each progressed to their individual postseasons, while the Seattle Kraken have been eliminated from Stanley Cup contention with a record of 33-34-13.

The Kansas City Mavericks secured the Brabham Cup as the ECHL’s top regular-season team and head into the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs as the ECHL’s No. 1 seed, ensuring home-ice advantage. Meanwhile, Coachella Valley has claimed the top spot in the AHL’s Western Conference, clinching the Pacific Division title with their win against Ontario on April 10th.

Throughout this season, the Mavericks have seen the participation of six players who have played for both Kansas City and Coachella Valley. Noteworthy contributions have been made by goaltenders Jack LaFontaine and Cale Morris, defenseman Ryan Jones, and forwards Max Andreev and Jeremy McKenna, alongside Tucker Robertson.

The Kansas City Mavericks are set to take on the Tulsa Oilers in the Mountain Division Semifinals in Game One of the Kelly Cup Playoffs on April 17th.

Coachella Valley has secured the top spot in the Pacific Division and has earned a bye in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to kick off on April 20th.
