ECHL: Kansas City Mavericks Bring Back Nate Knoepke

Kansas City Mavericks signed another returning player Defenseman Nate Knoepke. Knoepke, 24 years old, played in 58 games last season for the Mavericks. Knoepke contributed three goals and seven assists for a total of 10 points for the season. Kansas City Mavericks Assistant Coach Riley Weselowski had a few great words to say about the return of Nate Knoepke. Weselowski said, ” Nate is coming off a very successful rookie season. Like most pro defenseman, it took him time to really find his groove, but by Christmas, he was playing rock-steady and was a big part of our team’s success. We expect Nate to continue to take strides, and we feel confident knowing that he is going to play some very important minutes for the Mavericks this year.”

Knoepke did have a pretty decent college career at the Univ. of Nebraska-Omaha. In his first year at Nebraska-Omaha (18-19), he appeared in 35 games, putting up a total of five points (one goal, four assists). Nate second year (19-20), he appeared in 36 games, putting up another total of seven points ( one goal, six assists). In his third year (20-21), he appeared in 25 games, putting up a career-high of four goals and two assists. Then his final season (21-22) at Univ. Nebraska-Omaha, Nate put up a college career high of 10 points ( one goal, nine assists). Later that year (21-22), he signed with the Rochester Americans, an AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. He only appeared in four games, with the Americans putting up no points.

Hopefully, with Knoepke coming off his rookie season can keep that hot hand he started to have at the end of season with the Mavericks and keep it going into the upcoming season to help the Mavericks punch that ticket to the finals and bring the cup home to Kansas City.
