The Kansas City Mavericks have had a rough week, losing Nolan Walker, Cole Coskey, and now Patrick Curry, all of whom have left to go overseas in the past three days. Curry, in his first full season in the ECHL, put up 39 goals and 48 assists for 87 points while playing in all 72 games with the Kansas City Mavericks; he would add seven goals and nine assists for 16 points during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. He would be named to the ECHL All-First Team.
Prior to joining the Mavs, the 28-year-old forward played in 117 AHL games, putting up nine goals and nine assists for 18 points. He would also play in five games with the Toledo Walleye at the end of the 2021-22 season, putting up five goals and three assists in eight games and would add seven goals and five assists for 12 points during the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
KC Forward Re-Signs
The Kansas City Mavericks announced the re-signing of forward David Cotton for the 2024-25 season. Cotton was acquired by the Mavericks in a trade with the Florida Everblades in November after putting up two assists in seven games with Florida. In 41 games with KC, he would put up 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points and would add nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 19 Kelly Cup Playoff Games.
“David Cotton was our most important trade last season,” said General Manager and Head Coach Tad O’Had. “A talented forward, David competes hard on pucks and excels in all situations, logging major minutes. He is a strong presence on and off the ice, embodying the high-caliber and high-character player we want. This major signing should excite Maverick fans for October.”

Prior to the 2023-24 season, the former sixth-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes had spent three seasons in the AHL, putting up 25 goals and 21 assists for 46 points in 117 games with the Chicago Wolves, Coachella Valley Firebirds, and San Diego Gulls. He played his collegiate hockey at Boston College, where he put up 57 goals and 70 assists for 127 points in 148 games. Expect Cotton to play a big role with KC next year, as the team has lost a lot of key pieces this off-season.
