ECHL: Kansas City Mavericks Re-Sign Casey Carreau for the 2024-25 Season

The Kansas City Mavericks have re-signed forward Casey Carreau for the 2024-25 ECHL season.

“Casey is a heart and soul teammate”, said Mavericks General Manager and Head Coach Tad O’Had. “He competes incredibly hard and can contribute to the power play, penalty kill, and the lineup. Casey plays with a great deal of speed and is first on puck battles. We are expecting a big season ahead for Carreau.”

Collegiate Career

Casey Carreau had a bit of a different college career than most. He started his collegiate career in the 2017-18 season at Boston College playing in 33 games where he had one goal and four assists for five points. He had eight penalty minutes and a plus/minus of 0.

After his freshman season, Carreau spent the 2018-19 season playing for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL and the Boston Jr. Bruins in the NCDC. With the Buccaneers, Carreau played in 27 games where he had one goal and seven assists for eight points with 39 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -6. With the Jr. Bruins, Carreau played in 17 games where he had seven goals and six assists for 13 points with 16 penalty minutes.

Carreau then rejoined Boston College in the 2019-20 season, where he played for the next three seasons. He played in 62 games with Boston College during the three seasons, scoring 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points. He had 23 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -8.

In his final collegiate season, Carreau transferred to Niagara University, where he played for the 2022-23 season. With Niagara University, he played in 40 games, where he had ten goals and 21 assists for 31 points. He had 16 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +2. After finishing his collegiate career, Carreau signed his first professional contract with the Kansas City Mavericks in the ECHL.

Kansas City Mavericks Career

Carreau finished the 2022-23 season in the ECHL with the Kansas City Mavericks. He played in 12 regular season games with the Mavericks, where he had two goals and six assists for eight points. He had two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of 0. Carreau then re-signed with the Mavericks for the 2023-24 season. He played in 35 games with the Mavericks where he had three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. He had 12 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +1. Carreau has put up one assist in seven Kelly Cup Playoff Games with the Mavericks.
