
Wichita Thunder forward Kobe Walker is heading overseas to Denmark to join the Aalborg Pirates after finishing his first full season in the ECHL. In 68 games last year, the 27-year-old forward put up 30 goals and 36 assists for 66 points in 68 games. Kobe Walker and Jay Dickman would lead the Thunder with 30 goals apiece last season. Walker would add one assist in four games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Walker began his ECHL career during the 2023-24 season, where he finished the year with the Thunder, playing in 25 games while putting up eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. He is the fifth member of the Thunder to take the overseas route since the season ended.
The Lloydminster, Alberta native played his junior hockey in the AJHL with his hometown Lloydminster Bobcats. He would spend parts of three seasons with the team, where he put up 46 goals and 61 assists for 107 points in 121 games. He would add one assist in three playoff games with the Bobcats. Once he finished his junior career, Walker would head to the NCAA, where he spent five seasons at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology). In 142 games with the Tigers, he would put 40 goals and 40 assists for 80 points in 142 games. The Tigers won the AHA Regular Season Championship in Walkers’ last year of eligibility. Walker would play three games with the Neilburg Monarchs of the SaskPHL, where he put up four goals and eight assists for 12 points before joining the Thunder.
Walker’s Cousin is former NHL goaltender Branden Holtby, who won a Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals in 2018.
