The Worcester Railers have announced that they re-signed forward Kolby Johnson for the 2025-26 season. Johnson, 27, began the season in the SPHL, playing three games with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, where he had one goal. In 34 games with Worcester, he had two goals and two assists for four points along with 100 PIMS before being suspended by the Railers on April 7th. The Rosetown, Saskatchewan native has spent the Summer in Australia playing for the Perth Thunder. He put up 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points along with 36 PIMS in 17 games. The addition of Johnson gives Worcester some physicality at both ends of the ice after signing defenseman Cole Fraser earlier this month. Johnson is the fifth forward and seventh player signed by the Railer for the 2025-26 season.

Johnson’s Career Before Worcester

Prior to going pro, Kolby Johnson spent parts of five seasons in the WHL and a season in the QMJHL. He put up a goal and five assists for six points along with 141 PIMS in 83 games with the Prince George Cougars and Prince Albert Raiders. He also played in 41 games with the Sherbrooke Phoenix, where he had a goal and an assist. After spending a year in the SJHL and MJHL, Johnson would make the jump to USports. He played one season with York University, appearing in just six games. Johnson would then spend three seasons with Trinity Western University. In 45 games, he would put up five goals and five assists for 10 points along with 148 PIMs.

“It wasn’t too hard to convince me [to come back],” Johnson said. “I’m really excited to see the atmosphere in that first game and get the show going.”

He played in two games with the Macon Mayhem, where he racked up 32 PIMs. Johnson would then join the Danbury Hat Tricks, where he had two goals and three assists for five points. He would add two goals in three playoff games with the Hat Tricks.
